Perry Russom

Multi Media Journalist

Perry Russom joined the Action News team in April 2013 as a multimedia journalist. He graduated from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications magna cum laude with a dual degree in broadcast journalism and political science. Perry also graduated from The Renée Crown University Honors Program at SU.

He is originally from suburban Philadelphia in Highland Park and is a diehard Phillies fan. He’s proud to say he is a graduate of St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia. Go Prep!

Perry got his start in news at the age of 18 as a production assistant for CBS Radio’s KYW Newsradio 1060 in Philadelphia. He interned for WBNG-TV as an NYSBA intern, WCAU in Philadelphia, and NBC Sports in London for the 2012 Olympics.

At Syracuse, Perry was named a Remembrance Scholar, a distinction honoring the 35 SU students who died on Pan-Am Flight 103 in 1988. He spent a semester studying abroad in London and was able to travel across Europe. In 2013, The New York State Associated Press Broadcasters Association awarded him Best TV News Story by a college student.

He looks forward to traveling across the Southern Tier telling the stories that need to be told and meeting the great people who make up this area.
