    The Broome Opioid Abuse Council’s Drug Free Communities is sponsoring a contest open to all students grades 6 through 12. Teens are invited to come up with an idea for a TV commercial about changing the perception of social norms around drug and alcohol use. The winning entry will be produced into a commercial by WBNG and will be aired on TV with additional prizes to be announce at a later date.

    In 2006, Binghamton Rescue Mission began an outreach service to the homeless and opened it's residence in 2010. Since then, numerous men have taken shelter there, many going on to lead more stable lives, find employment and reconnect with family.     Animal Care Sanctuary is located in Pennsylvania. There is a facility in East Smithfield and one in Wellsboro. ACS is one of the eleven shelters that is a part of The Humane Society of the United States’ Emergency Placement Partner program. Recently, Humane Society International rescued a group of dogs from a dog meat farm in South Korea. Four of those dogs have been placed at ACS and four more will be coming.
