Good evening.

I'd like to begin by thanking the thousands of people who've lent me their wisdom, their ideas and their support over the past months.

You've told me time and again that we need a change in the office of Broome County District Attorney.

The current District Attorney was appointed in 1987-and has served ever since.

My chosen life's work has been as a criminal prosecutor. In 17 years of hands on experience, I've conducted more than 75 felony trials, including eight murder trials and a number of major felony and drug-related cases.

So why am I running to be Broome's next DA?

Violent crime is up dramatically. Look at our community. It's easy to see the continued deterioration of our neighborhoods due to an ever-growing crime and drug problem. It's saddening and frustrating.

We need a change.

And we need it now.

An aggressive plan of action.

Fewer plea bargains and tougher sentences for drug dealers and sex offenders.

I believe it was this get tough approach that earned me the endorsement of the Broome County Sheriff's Law Enforcement Officer Association.

People have a right to feel secure when they visit the grocery store, or the mall.

We have a right to expect that our children are safe after dark, and that our neighborhoods will not be prey to downstate drug dealers.

I'm tired of hearing how well we're doing compared to this community or that community.

Do you feel safer now than you did 20 years ago? I know I do not.

We don't need platitudes or coddling.

We don't need ridiculous laws like granting licenses to illegal immigrants.

That's where I stand.

We need to let people know that our laws will be enforced and no crime will be tolerated - no matter how small.

It's time for a change.

It's time to get tough on crime.

On November 6th, please lend me your support and vote for a change in leadership in the fight against crime.

On November 6th, please vote Mike Korchak, Broome County District Attorney.

Thank you.
