DA Gerald Mollen faced his first challenger in 20 years.

And Tuesday night, he holds onto his position.

The Democrat defeats his opponent, Republican Michael Korchak.

This will be Mollen's 6th term as Broome County District Attorney.

Action News caught up with Mollen at Democrat headquarters at the Binghamton Regency, where he was celebrating his victory.

"We tried to display what the Broome County District Attorney's office is about during the campaign, and what we try to accomplish in the office. And I just promise the people of Broome County that we're going to work very very hard to meet their expectations," says Mollen.

"I think we opened up a lot of eyes with our message. Again, I'm proud of everyone that worked on my campaign and I want to congratulate Mr. Mollen," says Korchak.
