An assistant fire chief is causing a stir in Johnson City.

One day he showed up to work, naked.

Action News has a picture, that we've blurred for this story.

The village suspended Johnson City Assistant Fire Chief Kenneth Roe.

He showed up for work without his uniform on.

This is one picture being circulated is causing a stir.

It was apparently taken October 22nd.

Roe arrived at the Southside Fire Station on Floral Avenue in just a hat and tie.

"At this point we're doing an internal investigation, and see, see where that takes us from here," says JC Mayor Harry Lewis.

Lewis says he learned about the picture last week after calls to his office.

He says Fire Chief Henry Michalovic {mick uh LAHV ick} suspended Roe on Tuesday for one week.

Lewis would not say whether Roe is still receiving pay.

We were told Chief Michalovic is on vacation and could not be reached for comment.

Mayor Lewis says Roes action was blown out of proportion, but never should have happened.

Lewis also responded to rumors that Roe went other places while nude.

"Of course lot of rumors are floating around about what had happened and driving around and so on but haven't found any substantial evidence of that," say Lewis.

We left messages for Roe at his home, but our calls were not returned.

A call to the head of the firefighter's union was also not returned.

When asked about possible criminal charges, Johnson City Police Captain Ted Wido said he had no comment.
