A Binghamton Attorney, will soon sit on the State Supreme Court.

Democrat Molly Fitzgerald won the third and final Supreme Court justice seat in the 6th judicial district.
Thursday night she and her supporters celebrated in Binghamton.

Fitzgerald was in 4th place on election night.

But Thursday, election offices throughout the state counted up the absentee ballots.

Fitzgerald collected enough to move past Republican Joseph Fazzary, who called today to concede the race.

"I appreciate that because you know, he didn't have to do that. He would have waited til the bitter end but I think the process was killing us both. It's been tough," says Fitzgerald.

The 6th district covers 10 counties.

All but one of them are in the Southern Tier.

Fitzgerald was the top vote getter in Broome County with more than 20-thousand votes.
