Plane Crash

A pilot is killed after his plane crashed in Broome County.

This is video of the scene where emergency crews set up near Flint and Knapp Roads in the Town of Maine.

The county says a single engine plane took off from the Greater Binghamton Airport around 5:00.

The pilot was the only person aboard the plane, which was bound for Albany.

The air traffic tower lost contact about 5 minutes after take off.

Following 911 calls of a crash and explosiong, emergency crews responded about a mile from the airport, just off Knapp Road.

They found the plane on fire.

The pilot's identity is not being released until family members are notified.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the national Trasportation Safety Board.
