State Police say a man driving drunk tried to outrun police throughout Greater Binghamton.
A state trooper signaled for the driver of this black Pontiac to pull over on Interstate 81 North in Binghamton.
State Police say it was a simple violation, but the car would not stop.
Area police agencies joined the chase that continued onto 17 West into Tioga County.
At Apalachin, the driver crossed over the highway and headed back east.
At one point, the Pontiac hit a Broome Sheriff's Patrol car.
State Police say there were no injuries.
They deployed stop sticks which deflated one of the tires, disintegrating the rim.
The car came about full circle before stopping on I-81 South in Binghamton, where the driver was arrested.
State Police charged 31 year old Axel Schmidt of Plymouth Meeting with DWI, Unlawful fleeing, criminal mischief and reckless driving.
