5 People Charged in Town of Colesville Burglary

On December 18, 2007, a joint investigation involving The New York State Police in Binghamton, NY, the New York State Police in Norwich, NY, and the Broome County Sheriff’s Department, was concluded with the arrested the following subjects:

MICHAEL P. LESTER, DOB 03/18/88,115 St. Hwy 51, Mount Upton, NY, arrest date 12/04/07,
DAKOTA J.R. BURNS, DOB 04/12/91, 41 Walnut St., Port Crane, NY, arrest date 12/11/07
DUSTIN J. BURNS, DOB 08/04/87, 8 Oak St., Binghamton, NY, arrest date 12/11/07
DONALD L. JACKSON, DOB 09/19/88, 761 St Rte 369, Port Crane, NY, arrest date12/12/07,
FLETCHER C. BESS, DOB 08/08/87 , 3400 CR 32, Oxford, NY, arrest date 12/18/07.

In June of 2007, the New York State Police, Binghamton, NY, investigated the burglary of a residence at 110 Glendenning Rd., Town of Colesville, NY, in which Computer equipment, stereo equipment, motorcycle equipment, and a NYS and Federal Firearms Dealer’s Licenses were stolen. During this same period of time the Broome County Sheriff’s Office investigated the burglary of a residence on St Rte 12, in the Town of Chenango, and the New York State Police in Greene, NY investigated the burglary of a residence on Dug Rd., in Greene, NY.

The joint investigation was concluded between December 4, 2007 and December 18, 2007, when the New York State Police in Binghamton, NY arrested the all five of the above listed subjects on a charge of Burglary in the Second Degree, for their involvement in the Glendenning Rd. burglary. All five subjects were arraigned in the Town of Colesville on the date of their arrest, and committed to the Broome County Jail, pending grand jury action. Some of the property was recovered.

Additional charges against MICHAEL LESTER, DUSTIN BURNS, and DAKOTA BURNS are being considered by the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and Broome County District Attorney’s Office. In addition, The New York State Police in Norwich, NY, and the Chenango County District Attorney’s Office are considering charges against Michael Lester, Dakota Burns and Fletcher Bess for the burglary of the Dug Rd residence in Greene, NY.
