If you drive around Conklin, be aware that a bridge has closed.
After an inspection, the DOT reduced the weight limit on the Milburn Drive Bridge to a 3 ton limit.
Tuesday, the Conklin Town Board voted to close the bridge.
The town also hired Delta Engineers to do a study on the structure.
"I do not feel comfortable opening it and just putting a 3 ton limit. I am just not comfortable with that so as long as nobody's landlocked there, I think this is the safest way to go," says Supervisor Debbie Preston.
The engineering study should take about a month.
After it's complete, the Town will decide whether to repair the bridge, or just keep it closed.
Until then, traffic will be detoured onto Fallbrook Road and Conklin Forks Road.
