State Police say at least one person was critically injured when 4 vehicles crashed in Broome County.

It was around 3:30 on Route 12 and Katellville Hill road in the Town of Chenango.

A trooper says the green pickup traveling north hit a guard rail, then swerved into the southbound lane.

Another truck, and SUV and car also crashed.

One of the trucks caught fire and at least one person had to be extricated from a vehicle.

This is what a woman who lives on Route 12 saw.

"All I saw when I got here is the cars, I should say trucks were on fire and people were running up towards our home to get fire extinguishers and just chaos," says Penny Heath of Chenango.

A trooper on the scene could not say exactly how many people were injured.

Our crew counted 7 ambulances at the scene.

Route 12 is shut down at the intersection with Route 79.
