A state of emergency is declared in Broome County Monday.

Executive Barbara Fiala says all outdoor burning is banned, due to our recent spell of warm temperatures, and lack of rain.

Conditions that increase our risk for brush fires.

The ban does not include cooking fires contained in fireplaces, grills or pits

Dry conditions likely helped ignite a fire in Windsor, not long after that State of Emergency was announced.

Nearly half a dozen fire crews responded to 554 Hoadly Hill Road around 5 pm.

They say a man was working on a motor home behind his house with a torch, when sparks started a fire in the grass.

It took crews about an hour to put out the flames.

Two motor homes, 4 or 5 vehicles and some tires were destroyed.

The investigation continues and charges are possible.
