Fire Destroys Home in Tioga County

Another destructive fire in Tioga County.

Fire crews in Newark Valley responded to 618 Chamberlin Road around 11:30 this morning.

When they arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the rear of the building on the first floor.

No one was home when the fire started.

Neighbors saw the smoke and called 9-1-1.

They also went inside the home to try and save anything they could for the family.

The Relyea family lived in the home.

The Newark Valley Fire Chief says the were preparing to move this weekend.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause.
