Binghamton High Named to Newsweek Magazine List of Top Schools
Binghamton High School was ranked at number 509 in a list of 1,300 of the 2008 top public high schools named by Newsweek Magazine.
Public schools nationwide are ranked according to the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and/or Cambridge tests taken by all students at a school in 2007, divided by the number of graduating seniors at the school. The ratio, designed by Washington Post columnist Jay Mathews, is named the Challenge Index since it measures a public high school’s effort to challenge its students.
This is the fifth consecutive year Binghamton High School has made the list.
