Families came out to George W. Johnson Park in Endicott to ride the merry-go-round.
They could even take trolley rides to visit the other carousels at West Endicott and Highland Parks.
The event was sponsored by Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala.
Many parents and grandparents call this a Broome County tradition.
"It's just an opportunity for us to be together as a family and come out here and just have a lot of fun," said Gerard Horn of Endicott.
"It's something special that isn't available in most places, and it's kept so well," said Mary Jo Skiba of Vestal
"I think it's the heritage of this area, and I think this is great. We're known for our carousels. It's something most communities don't have" said Joe Coppola of Endicott.
There are 6 carousels in Broome County.
They are free to ride and open through Labor Day.
