A Cortland High School social studies teacher charged with rape is a free man Monday night.
Cortland Police say 26-year old Nicholas Thomas of Cortland was arrested over the weekend for allegedly having sexual contact with a 15 year old student.
It's believed he raped the student inside the school.
He's charged with rape and child endangerment.
And is suspended without pay.
The allegations came to light last week.
Thomas was arraigned in City Court and remanded to Cortland County Jail.
He is now free on $1,000 bail, and is due back in court June 18.
