The Carney family of Brookfield says their house was ransacked and some personal belongings were stolen; even some Christmas gifts were stolen. It happened sometime during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Ronette Carney and her three children left their home in Brookfield on Wednesday to spend the holiday with family in Utica. When they returned Friday, the discovered a shattered side window. Someone had apparently broken into their home and stole a couple televisions, DVD’s, video games, and even some clothes. Now, the family wants to move.

“I moved some of my stuff out, and now I'm going to move the rest of my stuff out. I'm gonna stay with my parents until I find another place because I’m too afraid to be here with my children,” says Ronette.

Ronette’s mother, Kathy Hubbard, says, “What this is doing to my daughter, putting her under stress, I hope these people get what they deserve. I hope justice is done. I hope the police find who these people are and they do to them what they did to my daughter. They took away something very special to them."

If you have any information regarding this incident, the family says the Madison County Sheriff’s Department is handling this case. You are prompted to call them with any details.
