A giant white mound is the new Greater Binghamton Sports Complex in the Town of Union, right off Airport Road.
"It will house a driving range, golf driving range, soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, softball," says Bob Kahou of the sports complex.
The multi-purpose dome will also have 5 indoor soccer fields, boasting the most playing field surface in the country.
It is now the largest dome in the United States.
The Greater Binghamton Sports Complex is 70 feet high and covers nearly 125 thousand square feet.
"Nice looking, nice looking unit. I hope these people make good on it. It's not an eyesore. A lot of thought went into it," says neighbor John Buckley.
A lot of thought did go into the giant vinyl and rubber dome.
The complex will be fully heated, with nearly 250 parking spaces available.
Plus a full service kitchen, and possible bar.
The complex just applied for a beer and wine license.
"It's not a bar basically. It will be under control. All it is basically, players have one beer and that's it. We're not looking to get them intoxicated," says Kashou.
President Bob Kashou tells Action News the bar will not serve hard liquor and the alcohol will be served in a room just for adults.
Neighbors we talked with aren't bothered by the possibility of a bar in the dome.
"There's a lot of traffic around here coming from Front Street back and forth. And you've got the Airport Inn right down the road, so it's just another spot to me," says neighbor Michele Card.
Over the next week, lights, insulation and turf fields will be installed.
Just in time for the first scheduled tournament, featuring softball.
The sports complex will host tournaments, games and practices for its own leagues as well as private sports organizations.
