The teams met with tournament organizers and supporters in the gymnasium at Binghamton High School.
Broome County's STOP-DWI program sponsors the annual basketball tournament.
"The whole focus around this entire event is trying to use a popular sport, high school basketball, as a way to get a message out to youth about drinking and driving, under age drinking and substance abuse," says James May of Broome County STOP DWI.
16 local and national high school basketball teams will be in the tournament from December 27th through the 29th.
It's held at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton.
