BC Transit Fare Change

July 22, 2010 Updated Dec 13, 2005 at 11:32 AM EDT

A new, 650 thousand dollar fare collection system has been put on all buses.
Riders without exact change will be able to get a coupon for the difference.
The coupon will be good toward another ride.
Tokens are also being phased out, replaced with paper ride cards.
And, monthly passes are being phased out.
Instead, BC Transit will sell 31 day ride cards.
"So you can buy a pass today and not use it for 2,3,4,5 days. The first time you use it, you'll still have 31 days for it to be valid," says the Commissioner of Public Transportation John Kowalchy.
In addition to the changes, BC Transit also announced its holiday travel schedule.
Free trolly rides to and from Binghamton and the Oakdale Mall are available now through the 24th.
