Bucci Not Taking Vacation/Sick Pay

But he won't be taking a big check with him.
Bucci says he will not take any money for unused vacation or personal time that added up over his 12 years as mayor.
Bucci says City Code does allow for him to take the money, but Professional Officers Law of New York State doesn't.
He says mayors in the past have taken the payout at the end of their term, but he believes he shouldn't.
In 1968, the New York State Comptroller's office said any cash payment for accumulated and unused vacation time by an elected official is highly irregular and improper, and possibly illegal.
