The Price of Stamps Going Up

July 22, 2010 Updated Jan 9, 2006 at 3:12 PM EDT

Starting Sunday, January 8, prices at the post office are going up. Stamp prices are up 2 cents to 39 cents. Express, priority, and certified mail will also increase.

Prices are going up because of a law passed in 2003.
It requires the Postal Service to establish a 3.1 billion dollar escrow account. Congress will decide later what to do with the money.
