State Police say the two cars hit on 17 East in the Town of Union around 9:30 Thursday morning.
The two drivers were both injured in the crash which caused severe damage to both vehicles.
State Police say 31-year-old Billie Ayer of Barton is at Wilson Hospital with minor injuries.
The other driver, 20-year-old, Lauren Ligreci of Greene, was treated and released.
The crash also damaged two bridge posts and a rail.
The Department of Transportation called in crews for an emergency repair Thursday afternoon.
The passing lane of 17 East was shut down between Exits 69 and 70.
The crash and repair backed up traffic on Route 17 and 17C much of Thursday.
