July 22, 2010 Updated Jul 15, 2008 at 6:48 PM EDT

The New Broome-Tioga BOCES Superintendent starts his first week at the helm.

Allen Buyck is hardly a newcomer to BOCES.

He has served as Deputy Superintendent and Chief Executive Officer over the past 6 years.

Buyck's plans include continuing some of the programs started by his predecessor, Dr Joseph Busch.

"One of the things Dr. Busch was very close to was what the commissioner calls a P-16 Plan, which is dealing with education prior to Kindergarten and actually four years into post secondary education and that involves relationships with our local community colleges as well as Binghamton University. Those relationships have started and I want to continue and expand those, " said Buyck.

Buyck spent more than 20 years working in the private sector before he changed his career path to work at BOCES.
