And at least two dozen more horses, dogs, cats and a cow have been rescued.
Action News video was on the scene in Coventry, at 865 County Route 235.
The Sheriff's office was called to investigate a complaint of animal cruelty on Friday and consulted with a veterinarian.
Tuesday afternoon, the dead animal were removed and the surviving ones were loaded into trailers and kennels.
The Chenango County Sheriff says the property owner has been arrested but a name is not available yet.
His office plans to release more information on the animal rescue and the charges filed later.
