He was alive to see the start of the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company and IBM. Thursday, the Endicott Rotary celebrated a milestone one member is about to reach.
Halsey Alderman will turn 101-years-old next Monday. His friends from Endicott Rotary threw him a party at the Endicott Visitors' Center.
Alderman became a member of club 79 years ago and served as its 12th president. He received a certificate proclaiming April 13 "Halsey Alderman Day" in Endicott.
"Halsey is like everyone's grandfather. He's the grandfather of rotary. He's been through all of the activities and held all the positions," says James Varieur.
During his time of active service Alderman had not missed a rotary club meeting.
