Steven Tronovitch is Binghamton's next chief of police. Mayor Matt Ryan made the announcement at city hall this afternoon.

Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan chose Steven Tronovitch to lead the police department.

He replaces John Butler who left to become Vestal Police Chief in March.

Tronovitch is a 31-year veteran of the police force.

He was most recently a captain.

Ryan interviewed seven men on the force before narrowing the candidates down to three and then choosing Tronovitch as police chief.

The other two finalists were acting chief Joe Zikuski and Captain Alex Minor.
