Ithaca has been named as one of the 50 smartest places in the country to live. It actually ranked 8th on Kiplinger's list.

To be considered the town or city had to have a reasonable cost of living combined with a great quality of life. Ithaca was chosen for its well-preserved 19th century houses, along with it's great food and beautiful scenery.

Nashville, Tennessee came in number one, followed by Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Ithaca was the only place in New York to make the list.
