On Armed Forces Day, some local veterans honor those who answered the call to duty.

American Legion Post 80 in Binghamton placed 1,200 American flags on the graves of veterans. They can be seen in Spring Forest Cemetery on Mygatt Street. The flags aren't only to commemorate Armed Forces Day, but also to prepare for Memorial Day next weekend.

One veteran at Post 80 says it's a way to show respect for fallen servicemen and women.

"I would be very, very glad if they knew that there were still people that care about them, and we do," said Brent Knusden.

This is an annual event for Post 80.
