Depositions for a lawsuit started in State Supreme Court.
Broome County is suing 10 people who refused to return payments for unused sick time.
They had worked under former Executive Jeffrey Kraham.
When Barbara Fiala took office last year, she discovered the payments and said they violated county rules.
About half of the people returned the money.
The county's suing the rest in an effort to collect 170-thousand dollars.
"The payout was wrong and we will pursue it until the courts decide one way or another," says Fiala.
Fiala says employees are only entitled to pay after accumulating 165 unused sick days.
Otherwise, the money goes to their retirement.
Fiala says the judge could rule on whether to send the case to trial by the end of August.
