A state audit finds most SUNY colleges don't correctly report crime statistics.
Under the federal Clery Act, schools must release an annual security report which includes crime statistics, safety policies and procedures.
The New York Comptrollers office compared those reports with internal campus records.
SUNY Delhi and Oneonta had more than 40 crimes or violations not reported accurately.
The audit found inconsistencies at 2/3rds of SUNY schools, including Binghamton University.
The Comptrollers office says they need better training on how to comply with the Clery Act.
Campus safety information is made available on line at ope.ed.gov.
