Binghamton's Police Department hopes selling a few hot dogs and hamburgers will help out it's four legged workforce.
The Department's K-9 unit held a barbeque fundraiser here at the Binghamton Price Chopper.
Profits will be used to offset medical costs for the unit's four police dogs.
The city sets aside 5 thousand dollars for the unit, but the department says dog injuries can add up.
"When something serious happens to one of our animals at work, the bills can often amount in the thousands. When somehting like that happens we could be forced to retire the dog," said Sgt. Chris Bracco with the Binghamton Police Department.
If you'd like to donate to the city's K-9 medical fund, you can now donate at the city clerk's office when applying for a dog permit.
