Thanksgiving Basket Donations

July 22, 2010 Updated Nov 11, 2008 at 7:53 PM EDT

A Thanksgiving Turkey Drive starts this Friday.

The turkey's will go to the Thanksgiving Basket program Catholic Charities and Broome County Council of Churches are sponsoring.

They've enlisted the help of Joshua B and Lori from Star 105.7.

The DJs will live in an RV parked outside Wal-Mart in Vestal collecting frozen turkeys.

"We had people last year come down and volunteer to help us, chuck turkeys into the truck, you know cart non-perishables, cart non-perishables around it was really a good experience." says Joshua B of Star 105.7.

When the basket program started 40 years ago, Catholic Charities fed 25 families.

This year the two agencies expect to feed 2,500.

The drive will run from this Friday, November 14 through the 21.
