Drunk Driver Charged in Officer Death

A Broome County Grand Jury indicted a man who struck and killed a police officer.

The District Attorney's Office says the driver's blood alcohol content was more than .18 percent

30 year old Patrick Fitzgerald of Binghamton is charged with Vehicular Homicide and other DWI offenses.

On July 27, Port Dickinson Police Officer Aldo Rossi was struck and killed while directing traffic around a fallen tree.

Fitzgerald is charged with 3 felony crimes of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, Vehicular Manslaughter First Degree and Aggravated Manslaughter Second Degree.

Misdemeanor charges are Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated; and Driving With More Than .08% BAC.

Fitzgerald is currently released on $10,000 bail.
