The Binghamton area lost more than a thousand jobs in the last year, and unemployment is climbing up.
The unemployment rate in November was 6%.
That's up from 5.3% in October and way up from 4.1% one year ago.
This is for Broome and Tioga counties.
At the same time, the state Labor Department reports the number of jobs is dropping.
In November, there were 90 thousand 600 total, private jobs in the Binghamton area.
That's down from 91 thousand 700 jobs in November 2007.
It's a loss of 11-hundred jobs during the last year...a drop of 1.2%.
