Stabbing in Johnson City - Update

July 22, 2010 Updated Dec 30, 2008 at 12:23 AM EDT

A Johnson City man's accused of stabbing two people, leaving one with critical wounds.

Johnson City Police arrested 23-year old Emerson L. Ryan of Albert Street.

Investigators say Ryan and two other men argued outside Cosmo's Restaurant and Bar at Grand Avenue and Riverside Drive.

Police responded there around 3 Saturday morning.

40-year old Donald Chandanais of Johnson City had been stabbed several times in the chest with a knife.

He had surgery at Wilson Hospital, and was listed this afternoon in critical condition.

But an update on his condition tonight was unavailable.

Chandanais' stepson, 20-year old Joshua J. Allen of Endicott, was also treated for a cut to his arm.

A Cosmo's manager says Ryan is a fill-in kitchen staffer, but was not working Saturday night.

He was arrested at the scene and charged with 1st degree assault.

Ryan is in the Broome County Jail without bail.

Police say the investigation is continuing.
