It was business as usual at The Jewelry Shop in the Town of Union.

But things changed when two men entered the store just after 5 o'clock Thursday afternoon.

"Two black men came in at gunpoint. They brought their own duct tape and tied up the two girls so they weren't able to alarm the silent alarms," says Mary Lou Paoletti of the Jewelry Shop.

Sheriff's deputies say at least one weapon was displayed inside the store.

Owners say after the workers were tied up, the two men helped themselves to diamonds in a show case.

Then, the two robbers fled on foot.

Another worker, in the back, dialed 911.

Owners say there were no customers in the store at the time the two gentlemen entered.

And they added they're thankful no one was hurt.

"The most important thing, like I said, is that Carolyn, my store manager, and Whitney, my young sales agent over there are fine. They were shook up of course," says Paoletti.

Now, Broome County Sheriffs deputies are looking for the two men responsible for the armed robbery.

"Two males, black, mid 20s, one wearing a black shirt with a skeleton outline. The other wearing a gray fleece, black sleeves," says Det. Patrick Isenburg of Broome County Sheriff's Office.

Paoletti says her insurance company will cover the damages.

She says the family owned business will keep moving forward, not letting the robbery get in the way.

But, she wants these men caught and brought to justice soon.

If you may have seen or heard anything about this armed robbery, call the Broome County Sheriff's Office at 778-2103, or dial 911.
