Vestal Reassessment Outrage

July 22, 2010 Updated Mar 25, 2009 at 10:37 PM EDT

Backlash continues tonight over Vestal's recent town-wide reassessment.

A heated town hall meeting allowed people to vent their frustrations.

Some residents say Maxwell Appraisal Services, the company which handled Vestal's town wide reassessment.

Improperly used computer models to determine the value of their homes.

They say homes were over assessed, and in some cases, dramatically.

Residents are furious because questions about the assessment formula, have gone unanswered.

"They weren't able to answer my technical questions about how they came up with their calculations for the value of my home," Rodney Vargason of Vestal said.

"No one in Vestal so far has been able to tell me how those numbers go together," Tom Hodges of Vestal said.

The board decided it will hold another meeting, at a bigger venue to accommodate the crowd.

It hopes a representative from Maxwell Appraisal will attend.
