A survivor brings the Holocaust into focus for a group of Vestal 10th graders.
Dina Rosenberg Jacobson visited this global history and geography class.
As a teenager, Jacobson survived 3 years in the Auschwitz concentration camp.
She was freed when Russian soldiers liberated the camp.
After that, an American soldier helped Jacobson find an aunt living in Elmira.
She hopes people learn to never let similar horrors happens again.
" I want them to know not to hate anybody. Hate. If you hate somebody you ended up to hate yourself." says Jacobson.
Jacobson has been speaking to classrooms across the Southern Tier for the last 2 decades.
Vestal Teacher, Brian Adessa met her when he taught near Elmira.
He says she offers a real-life history lesson that students remember.
