34 year old Anthony Horton of Elmira is on trial for murder and armed robbery.

The manager of the Red Jacket Motel in Ashland testified that Horton checked in on February 28th.

The next day, State Police say Horton robbed the Chemung Canal Trust Bank in Big Flats, then shot Trooper Andrew Sperr while changing vehicles on Lowe Road.

Investigators say Horton's girlfriend met him at the Red Jacket afterwards.

They say a 20 dollar bill used to pay the cab driver was traced to the stolen money from the bank.

Horton faces 10 charges in connection with the murder of Trooper Sperr and the bank robbery.
