United Health Services opens a new birthing center at Wilson Hospital, complete with the birth of a baby boy.
A ceremony marked the opening of the new labor and delivery unit at the hospital in Johnson City.
This proud mother and father helped open the new unit, only one hour after giving birth to their new baby.
The $3.2 million project includes seven private birthing suites like this one, complete with a jacuzzi.
UHS President Mark Salanger says the new unit will help make child birth less stressful for families.
"Be able to do that in an environment that's comfortable for them and something that really enhances the joyous nature of the event," Salanger said.
The unit also added wireless fetal monitoring.
That allows a mother in labor to walk around and relax while her condition is tracked and recorded.
