56 year old David Keeffe and his wife, 60 year old Carol Keeffe were found murdered in their Athens Township home Sunday night.

The home sits at the end of a private, wooded and gated driveway.

"This is just a complete shock," says Joe Landy of Sayre.

David Keeffe was a well-known attorney at the family law firm, DeSisti and Keeffe in Sayre.

Landy says David was a colleague and a friend.

"David was an excellent lawyer. Great family people. This is just stunning," says Landy.

State Police say autopsies Monday show both David and Carol were killed by gunshot wounds.

Neighbors who talked to police say the Keeffe's were murdered on Friday.

They were supposed to be vacationing in Cape Cod.

Sunday evening the daughter found her parents inside the home.

Neighbor David Vanderworth has rented this property from the Keeffe's for years.

He says David would often go for walks past his house.

"They were all nice people. You just can't believe it," says Vanderworth.

Ken Gregory taught the couple's son and daughter at Athens High School.

"I was sick. Just sick. And just hard to believe. I'm still shocked," says Ken Gregory of Athens Township.

Tom Colegrove says he catered several events at the Keeffe home.

"Lovely family. Well-educated. Just a beautiful family. They will be greatly missed," says Colegrove.

Greatly missed, as their community wonders who took the lives of Carol and David Keeffe.

Pennsylvania State Police ask anyone with information to contact investigators.

They also want to to talk to anyone who may have been in the area of Moore Road in Athens township between the hours of 2 pm and 7 pm last Friday.

Call State Police at 570-265-2186 or Athens Police Department, 570-888-6507.
