Instead of making meth, police say suspected dealers were having the drug shipped to the Southern Tier.

Operation Crystal Apple led to the arrest of 6 people.

Police seized evidence from nearly a dozen places in Broome, Onondaga, and Oswego Counties plus Arizona.

Most of those searches took place in Broome County.

Neighbors at 98 North Street in Johnson City were stunned.

" I would have never suspected that," said Jennifer Kirkland." I mean I've seen a lot of people go in and out, but never ever that," she said.

"I am very dismayed by what was going on over there," said Edgar Freeman.

Operation Crystal Apple netted 4 pounds of methamphetamine worth a street value of 100 thousand dollars.

Police say dealers were getting the drug from Arizona, and selling it in the Southern Tier.

"A lot of agencies put a lot of work on hold to try to get this investigation done and give this service to the community and what you see here is the collective result of that cooperation," said Lt. Patrick Garey with New York State Police.

Four suspects appeared in Federal Court in Binghamton this afternoon.

All were arraigned and sent to the Broome County Jail without bail.

There are two other suspects, one from Onondaga County, and a man in Arizona.

Most are charged with conspiracy to possess and distribute meth.

Locally that includes 47 year old Mary Germaine Cron of Johnson City.

51 year old Leonard Howell of Port Crane.

And 56 year old Ralph Parkes of Glen Aubrey.

Another man, 60, year old Frank Niles of Union is charged with cocaine and marijuana possession.
