It's an effort to power up our troops.
Two local groups are doing all they can to support our servicemen and women overseas.
It's the Power for the Troops drive.
It was held at the American Legion Post 758 in Johnson City.
The post collected more than 54 hundred batteries.
They'll be sent to people serving overseas, so they can use them in things like CD players and other devices.
The 204th Engineer Battalion in Binghamton helps deliver the batteries to the servicemen.
Another group called the Fairy Godmother brigade sends care packages to the troops.
They joined post 758 at its pancake breakfast this morning.
The group showed pictures of some servicemen who received packages.
Everything they send comes entirely from donations.
If you'd like to lend a hand, you can contact the Fairy Godmother Brigade at 785-5489.
