United Health Services bought 5 homes that sit on Main Street in Johnson City.
It paid anywhere from 75 thousand to 200 thousand dollars for the properties.
The hospital wants to tear down the homes and turn the space into a parking lot.
"The hospital really needs to have the parking for the patient services. This will free up another lot for patient parking, which is pretty important," says Johnson City Planning Director Dee Golazenski.
The homes are being checked for asbestos this week.
The village planning board is expected to vote on the hospital's parking lot plan at its meeting Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
