Carrying bags full of gifts, people here at the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City are finishing up their last minute Christmas shopping.

"You always have to shop at the last minute. That's like the fun part of it, that's the exciting part," says Roxeanne Silvanic of Johnson City.

That excitement brought hundreds through the doors here at the mall.

Many have reasons for finishing off their gift list so late, but this shopper says.

"I don't know why I waited til the last minute. I didn't know what to get them so I was going to my mom for advice," says Alaina Clapper of Binghamton.

For this shopper, waiting until the last minute was the only option.

"I don't have time to do it. I always wait til the last day. To get my wife something. I always let the girls, our daughters pick her out something every year. They get to pick it out, I buy it, mom is happy," says Scott Nejeschalba of Vestal.

Some even chose to wrap their gifts on the go, here at this last minute gift wrapping station.

Workers here say 99 percent of the shoppers stopping by are men.

"The men that come in here, they basically figure by the time they buy the wrapping paper and the tape and the supplies that it's just cheaper to do it here," says gift-wrapper Tryntje Keesler.

This shopper agrees.

"My mother and my girlfriend did the rest of my Christmas wrapping. And when I was here I wanted to get it wrapped and out of the way because god knows I couldn't do this," says Steven Bauman of Endwell.

But this last minute shopper will get his gift under the tree in time.

A goal many are trying to reach just a few days before Christmas.
