A fun, family event in Binghamton marks the celebration of Kwanzaa.

Kwanzaa is a 7-day celebration, reflecting on African-American heritage, culture and values.

Seven black, red and green candles represent the 7 principles of Kwanzaa.

Roberson Museum held this celebration as part of its Home for the Holidays event.

The Order of the Eastern Start organized it.

The celebration included African music, activities and crafts for kids.

Organizers say Kwanzaa is about coming together and celebrating African-American heritage.

Kwanzaa was developed by a black studies professor in 1966.

The holiday began December 26th, and runs through January 1st.
