A man accused of killing a Port Dickinson Police officer while driving drunk will go to trial next month.
After 31 year old Patrick Fitzgerald today withdrew his request for a pre-trial hearing, a trial was set for September 21st.
In July last year, officer Aldo Rossi was directing traffic where a tree had fallen across an off-ramp on Route 7.
He was talking to a driver when State Police say Fitzgerald hit that driver's car and hit and killed officer Rossi.
Fitzgerald was indicted on 6 charges, including Vehicular Homicide, Vehicular Manslaughter and Driving While Intoxicated.
He refused a plea deal in April.
