A new bus service will make shopping at local stores easier for senior citizens in parts of Broome County.
The SEPP Group partnered with Catholic Charities and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, or RSVP to provide the service.
It will provide weekly transportation for about 50 seniors living at SEPP's Windsor Woods and Whitney Point Apartments.
They can use the service to grocery shop or other personal errands.
"They'll sign up at each of the buildings and right now we're just going to offer it to plazas like local grocery stores. After that if the program really takes off, we'll look at providing other services," said SEPP Executive Director Tony Fiala.
Bus service begins August 24, 2009 and will run for 2 days a week from those apartment buildings in Windsor and Whitney Point.
