A local softball team is trading in it's bats and gloves, to help raise money for a bar in Binghamton.

Francis Monico and the Sands Realty Softball are hosting a fundraiser to help fix up the Union Hotel on Clinton Street.

Sue Monico is the owner of the property.

The 70-year-old woman was thrown in jail in July for multiple code violations because she couldn't afford the fine.

Team members say the Union Hotel is their favorite place to hang out after games.

Team shortstop, Betty Billings said, "They have great food here so we come here every Monday night so we wanted to help them out."

The fundraiser will be at the Union Hotel Saturday from noon until 5.

Anyone interested in donating money or volunteering should call the Union Hotel at 798-0863.
